Twilight Tuesdays are back (Sept. 2-30)

September 1, 2008

Did you have a good Labor Day weekend? We eschewed yard cleanup and all other forms of hard work for relaxation — a trip to a water park, an afternoon of drinking beer in the shade, dinner with friends, etc. Very restorative!

But tomorrow’s back to the grindstone and then some. It’s the first day of school for M. (kindergarten) and a reality check for me, as I come to terms with the fact that my monthly deadlines are not going to magically stretch themselves apart to give me a week or two to be lazy. Sigh. By evening, I think we’ll all be ready for an outdoor concert, and the return of Twilight Tuesdays at the Missouri History Museum is just the (free) ticket to get us back into the groove.

The fall lineup (already two weeks in … sorry for the late notice!) is full of favorites — Ralph Butler, Coco Soul, Bob Kuban — and all the details remain the same (time, 6:30 p.m.; place: museum’s front lawn; picnics welcome; food available for purchase from Patty Long Catering). There’s a children’s activity area that opens at 6 p.m., but we can never seem to get there early, and since we always plan to eat supper there, the kids are never interested in anything but the food an the music!

If the weather seems dicey, call the event hotline at 1.800.916.8212 after 3 p.m. to find out whether that evening’s show is on.

We love this free fest too — wine and cheese for Mom and Dad and plenty of free, loud music for the kids to not bother anybody next to. The Beatles coverband last week was pretty good and the kids had fun coloring and hanging out while we munched and enjoyed ourselves. Love this one too!

I’m with you on the wine. 🙂 But I was bummed to miss the Beatles tribute!
