Good causes team up to talk politics (Oct. 2)

October 1, 2008

If you read yesterday’s post and came back today looking for Sunday’s activities, you might think today’s post is a bit of a bait and switch. But I realized I’d skipped over Thursday (Oct. 2). Tomorrow we’ll talk about Sunday, I promise!

Tomorrow’s main event, of course, is the vice presidential debate. No matter what you’re teaching your children about politics, you may want to attend the bipartisan rally that day at 4:30 p.m. for a cause we can all get behind: kids. Several national and state groups have joined forces to set up the rally, which takes place at the public viewing area on Washington University’s athletic complex just off Forsyth (the entrance is on Big Bend), within view of the building where the debate takes place. The topics the organizers hope to draw attention to include health care, poverty, food and housing insecurity, juvenile justice, early care and education, child abuse and after-school programs.
