Celebrating a kid-friendly, blues-loving eatery (Oct. 18)

October 15, 2008

Wow, this week is flying — it’s already time to start posting events for Saturday (Oct. 18). First up is a street party celebrating the anniversary of Blues City Deli, one of the neigbhorhood’s favorite hangouts for families with kids. The food, the music and the hospitality of the other customers are all equally important draws, although in my book it’s the latter that seals the deal. I know of no other restaurant where your fellow patrons will invariably give up their table for anyone with youngsters in tow — and do it with a smile, not an oh-my-god-kids!-let-me-out-of-here grimace.

The free street party runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and it’ll be jammin’ with seven different musical acts during those six hours. You’ll be dancing in the street, literally, and when you’re done you can fill up on barbecue. For details, check out the joint’s homepage.  And if you can’t make it Saturday, remember the weekly Thursday night jam sessions from 6 to 8 p.m.
