Learn the lyrics to “Curse of the Spinach” (Dec. 12)

December 8, 2008

On Friday night (Dec. 12) the St. Louis County Library has a treat in store: Trout Fishing in America will be giving a free concert at 7 p.m. at the library’s headquarters (1640 S. Lindbergh Blvd.) The acoustic duo plays a folksy/pop blend of family music, and this particular concert gives them an opportunity to show off a few tunes from their holiday album, Merry Fishes to All.  Who among us doesn’t want to hear The Eleven Cats of Christmas performed live?

Doors open at 6 p.m., so come early, read a few books to the kids and settle in for a good time. For details, call 314.994.3300 or visit the library’s calendar for Dec. 12 (you’ll have to scroll down to the event).

I thoroughly applaud the trend toward libraries opening their doors for concerts in the evenings, and apparently other families do too: The city library’s Not So Quiet Music Series downtown at the main branch has been extended indefinitely. The next show is Monday, Jan. 5, with the Dogtown Allstars at 7 p.m.
