Theater for little ones (Feb. 11 and other Wednesdays)

February 5, 2009

Stages St. Louis has a great reputation for its adult-oriented musical shows, but its Stages Performing Arts Academy in Chesterfield deserves no less attention from parents. It gives the 3-to-6 set a chance to see some of their favorite books read and acted out on the stage, and then they’re invited to get up there too for dramatic play. Each month brings a new book. February’s is The Valentine Bears by Eve Bunting (Feb. 11). It’s Tacky the Penguin in March, and April brings the one I’d consider pulling S. out of nursery school for: Knuffle Bunny Too: A Case of Mistaken Identity.   (Did I tell you how long I waited for Mo Willem’s signature last month, only to go away empty-handed at 9 p.m.???)

There are two free shows, 10:15 to 11 a.m. and 1:15 to 2 p.m., but due to the theater’s popularity you MUST reserve spots in advance at 636.530.5959.  Details on all the books and shows are available at the academy’s events homepage, under Stories at Stages.
