Indie crafters and mothers of multiples sell their stuff (Mar. 21)

March 19, 2009

A whole lot of vendors are hoping this spring-like weather has you in the mood to clean out closets and make way for new (and newly reimagined) clothes, jewelry and accessories. Two big sales this weekend aim to take advantage of your thriftiness and creativity: the Green with Indie Craft Show at Webster University’s Grant Gym and the Children’s Re-Sell-It at Metro East Lutheran High School in Edwardsville.

The latter is a huge sale of gently used clothes, toys and other kids stuff sponsored by Mothers of Multiples in Metro East St. Louis. That means there will be lots of cute stuff in duplicate and triplicate. My tipster tells me it’s a huge event — to see for yourself, head to 6305 Center Grove Road in Edwardsville between 8 a.m. and noon and fork over the $1 admission (for everyone over age 12). If you have questions, call 618.896.9820.

The Green with Indie Craft Show is sponsored by the St. Louis Craft Mafia and the Webster University Environmental Studies Committee, who’re bringing 80 or so unique vendors to campus on Saturday (March 21) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday (March 22) from noon to 5 p.m. Though the focus is reuse of fabrics, art supplies and found objects, the vendors aren’t required to have recycled their raw materials (instead, they’re asked to work “in the spirit of eco-friendly creativity”) — and the result is a promising mix of old-new and new-new.
