Growing things at farmers’ markets (now until October)

April 8, 2009

I’m blogging from the road today. We’re enjoying the cherry trees and sunny (albeit cold) weather in D.C. And although I vowed to give up on my garden after all the rabbit attacks, I ended up putting some mesh over one of the raised beds in the hopes that when we return, I’d have something left uneaten. Now I’m afraid that it’s all frozen anyway, without me there to cover it against frost.

Thank goodness it’s farmers’ market season (Kirkwood and Schlafly Bottleworks both opened last week) — when my micro-sized venture into agriculture fails, I can rely on the “real” farmers to supply me with the lovely flavors of spring !  Stop by the Bottleworks this afternoon (April 8 ) or Kirkwood on Saturday (April 11) and thank the farmers for their dedication to growing things no matter what Mother Nature throws at them!
