Our favorite farmers’ market opens (May 9)

May 8, 2009

Tomorrow’s community gardening day in our neighborhood, and I’m hoping we get everything done in time for me to load up the kids and head over to the season opener at the Tower Grove Farmers’ Market. I have a good shot, actually, since they’ve extended the hours (now 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.). We may even make it in time to see some of the Harvest Sessions Music Series (9:30 to 11:30 a.m.) with performer Caleb Travers. Depending on the weather, the pop jets and fountain may be on (not likely, but maybe). The pool isn’t scheduled to open until June 14.

Then it’ll be back home to my own yard, where the flowers we bought Monday are still not quite all in the ground.  Digging up worms and playing with the watering cans makes planting go reeeaaaalllly slowly.  Good thing it’s raining — I don’t have to worry about the unplanted plants drying out!
