Stay cool Saturday, venture out on Sunday (June 27-28)

June 25, 2009

On a day when it’s roasting outside by 8 a.m., it’s hard to recommend this weekend’s great outdoor events — which include the Fiesta in Florissant (June 27-28), the Shakespeare Kids Festival featuring A Midsummer Night’s Dream in Maryland Heights (June 27-28) and the Compton Heights Concert Band’s series kickoff (June 28 and 29). In all honesty, I’m going to hold off personally attending any of them until Sunday, when the high is predicted to be a mere 88 degrees. Today the only way I could stand to be outside was to let S. douse me from head to toe with water-fight weapons from the wading pool!

Wehrenberg Theatres knows how I feel. It’s in the midst of Heat Advisory Days, which means movies starting before 4 p.m. are discounted for adults. We get in for the kids’ price. Woohoo!  To see a list of showtimes tomorrow and Saturday — and any other day a heat advisory’s in effect between now and the end of August — visit the Wehrenberg homepage.
